When Keith made his banana mango smoothie, complete with crafts to make his kids smile, I found myself looking for similar recipes.
Next to cacao powder and sunflower seed butter, “banana” and “mango” are words that tend to stop me in my tracks. Yum! There certainly are plenty of recipes out there with these ingredients, but the hemp seed smoothie with bananas, mangoes and greens is what did it for me.
It’s got greens, almond milk and can include whatever other goodies you want to top it off with. It didn’t say anything about googly eyes or pipe cleaner, but I’m sure Keith would be up for it and who knows, I might even give the crafts a whirl myself even though there aren’t children in my house (I’m a kid at heart . . . that’s gotta count for something, right?) 🙂

Have fun with this! For example, why not mix both kale and baby spinach (instead of just one or the other)? Or, play around with toppings; add more mango, or top with shredded coconut, honey or chia seeds . . . whatever you’d like!

Banana’s are one of my favorite fruits. Of course I love them because they’re sweet and tasty in almost any smoothie (or on their own), but also because they have great amounts of potassium which is known to provide heart protection, guard against high blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke.

Hemps seeds, despite the name, won’t have you seeing dinosaurs dancing with a stapler or give you inspiration for a new song. But, a word of caution: they do contain slight amounts of THC, so if drug testing or anything hemp-related is a concern, pass on them and choose an alternative like chia seeds.
